As you can (maybe) read here, Red Cloud Cemetery is super duper cool and important because of it's...prairie grass. Yup, rare grass. Cool.
But that's ok, super rare grass grows here and they let it, and they want to make sure that it doesn't get damaged by foot traffic, so they ask you to keep to the path, and watch out for poison ivy, and they don't mention that they are basically letting the cemetery fall apart. Or, at least that's how it looked when I was there.
The plaque reads: Red Cloud Memorial Grove, Planted 1969. I don't know what was planted. More grass? This is the beginning of the "path" you are supposed to stay on.
Our first stone, the name is too worn to read but it appears he or she died at 85 years old.
If you look at the left top f the picture yo can make out the little path you are supposed to stay on. It's a single person, gravel path. Very overgrown. Only goes around half the cemetery, and doesn't go up to all the graves.
Remnants of a monument.

Mary Matilda Brintnell, another child of Asa and Laura. There are a few other names lower on the monument, which I believe are her children.
Another unknown, becoming lost to the field.
It would be really great if the Red Cloud Cemetery Board worked on restoring some of the fallen headstones, maybe start digging them out of the ground before they are lost forever. I am so happy that they have decided to leave them where they are, instead of moving them around like many other places do, it is amazing to actually know exactly where these people are. Also, the pathway only goes halfway around the cemetery, then you are walking trough long grass and poison ivy! Wear long pants!
