Etched in Stone-Cemeteries of Northumberland County and Surrounding Areas: Oak Hill Cemetery

Oak Hill Cemetery is serene spot on a quiet back road in Hope Township. It sits on Oak Hill Rd, just slightly off Beavermeadow Rd, and I'm not sure if it's technically in Garden Hill or not, but it's very close to that area, as well as Elizabethville. This cemetery is also known as Trews Cemetery, and the reason will be obvious!

As I was researching the place I noticed that a few sites marked it as abandoned, and though there are more old burials than new there are a few recent burials here, so I don't know that it actually is abandoned. Perhaps closed to more burials, though there seems like there could be enough space at the front for a few more family members...maybe it has to do with the farm field or the house on either side? Apparently, there was once a Presbyterian Church on the land, but it is long since gone.
