East Zion Bible Christian Cemetery (Moon's Cemetery)

East Zion Bible Christian Cemetery is located at 6406 Ganaraska Rd in Campbellcroft. It is also known as Moon's Cemetery, because (surprise, surprise) many members of the Moon family are buried here. It's small, and despite the sign at the front, it's a blink and you'll miss it place. It sits in a copse of trees and is fairly well hidden, even though it's right on the road.
This is the sign you'll see from the road, and also how I'm assuming you enter the cemetery. Parking is on the street. The last time I visited here the front was badly overgrown and walking in would have meant walking through the pioson ivy. There was also some wire fence poking out of the ground right at the entrance....so if you are planning on exploring, wear pants, be careful.
This is the cemetery, teeny tiny! Also, the fence at the back shows a gate, which looks like an entrance to the cemetery, but the driveway behind it leads up to a farm house, so I don't know if you should use it. Also, they have a really barky farm dog. He doesn't do anything but bark, but he might not appreciate you tromping all over his farm.

Mary, wife of Richard C. Moon. Died Feb 13, 1885, aged 73 years.
Susannah, daughter of Richard C. and Mary Moon. Died Jan 25, 1879, aged 32 years.

Unknown, it has been too worn down by the elements.
The stone in the foreground says Leonard, but whether that's a first or last name is unknown. The small stone in the back has 2 S 8 on it, nothing else.
William Boyd, died Sept 14, 1881. Aged 44 years.
Ruth Clarke Moon, wife of William Boyd. Died April 6, 1883, aged 75 years.
John Jennings Moon, died Sept 16, 1905. Aged 57 years.
This is a neat little cemetery, and interesting local history, and especially cool if you are a descendant of the Moon family. The cemetery is a bit rickety though, and between the long grass, smooshy mossy land, random death wire and crazy poison ivy I would advise only coming during the day, and making sure you are properly dressed-pants and good adventure shoes!
